CALGARY -- Kevin Glenn has restructured his CFL contract with the Calgary Stampeders.

Calgary acquired Glenn, offensive lineman Mark Dewit and a conditional draft pick Jan. 3 from Hamilton for quarterback Henry Burris. The 32-year-old Glenn will enter training camp competing for the starting job with incumbent Drew Tate.

"I'm pleased to be able to restructure Kevin's contract so that it will be a better fit with our salary cap,'' Calgary head coach/GM John Hufnagel said in a statement. "By accommodating us in this way, Kevin has demonstrated that he is anxious to be a member of the Calgary Stampeders in 2012 and beyond.

"This restructured deal gives Kevin an opportunity to finish his career here in Calgary.''

The Stampeders will become the fourth CFL team Glenn has played for, having spent time previously in Saskatchewan, Winnipeg and Hamilton.

"I'm excited to be a Stampeder and I look forward to this next chapter in my career,'' said Glenn. "I can't wait to get to work with my new teammates.''

The Stampeders also announced that linebacker Sean Ware, who signed late last season with the CFL and appeared in three games, has retired.

Glenn is good enough to give Tate some pressure from behind to keep his game up but I don't see him starting for the Stamps short of injury or a complete Tate melt-down.

Glenn will be the starter by the 4th game. The contract is just to save money. Too much pressure for the "Kid".

TC: "too much pressure for the kid" are you kidding me? he's 28 years old and started last year for the stamps and his HC and OC who were CFL QBs both agree he's their future!! not burris not glenn but TATE!! as for the money take a moment TATE gets a raise and glenn gets his pay cut!! so who do think sits on the bench? and it won't be TATE!!
